Welcome to The Lowther Legacy Library, a website created for our children, grandchildren, and all those interested in our family and our literary works.
Our father, George Lowther, wrote and directed the original Superman radio program and novel in the early 1940s. He began his career at NBC as a Page Boy at the age of 13 and went on to become the number-one children’s author of the 1940s. A writer, producer, and actor, Dad’s work connected him with a who’s who of radio and television.
My brother, Kevin George Lowther, was a Peace Corps volunteer, journalist, and director with Africare. He is the author of two books: Keeping Kennedy’s Promise and The African American Odyssey of John Kizell, a historical account of an enslaved man who came to America during the Revolutionary War and ultimately returned to his native Sierra Leone as a literate and politically connected man.
And I am Sean George Lowther, the younger brother. I have spent much of my career working nationally and internationally in the corporate world. I am the founder of Marci Jewelry and Stealth Awareness, Inc., and served as Board Chair of the Lupus Foundation of America’s North Carolina Chapter. I am the author of Holding the Moon in the Palm of Your Hand and Caregivers Wear Plaid: Lupus Sucks, with Advocates Wear Plaid soon to be published.
I am especially excited to announce that The Lupus Sucks Esplanade will have a home here in our library.
The Esplanade will be a place where podcasts, videos, and other information about lupus can be shared—either in its own room, through a dedicated tab on this website, or directly through lupus-sucks.com.
My years of involvement in the lupus community, first as a caregiver and advocate for my wife, Patty, and later through my continued work in lupus awareness and education, have given me a unique perspective on the challenges faced by those living with lupus and those who walk beside them.
So, I invite you to come and take a walk with me on the Esplanade.
And if you know someone who could benefit from greater awareness, understanding, or simply knowing that they are not alone, please let them know that they are never far away from us — and that they are always welcome to walk the Esplanade with us.
